Good Friday? A Fantastic Friday
Holyhead to Dublin by ferry

So as not to miss the ferry, we left Liverpool after dinner on Wednesday night and spent the night in a car park looking out at Holyhead Ferry terminal. The ferry left Holyhead on time at 9am Thursday morning and arrived on the emerald isle around midday. Dublin, at first sight, was no different from Liverpool, just with a few more religious effigies.
Priority was to find a suitable car park for the pop top VW transporter. At 1.99 meters it’s too tall for most car parks. The Renault failed it’s MOT and is SORN on my ex boyfriend’s drive. Coincidentally my new boyfriend’s gravel drive houses a modern state of the art vehicle that we have just parked up in the centre of Dublin for €10. The sky clearing, strolling through Saint Stephen’s Green we decided that when in Rome, drink Guinness.

In need of a shower on the road? Book yourself into yoga class! We ate, drank and was very merry before finding our selves a car park spot for the night.

Dublin’s car parks are very generous, it was free after 7pm and before 11am, which gave us ample time to refresh at the garage across the road before heading out to Wicklow National Park for the day.

This mount above the city, was the start of the Wicklow National Park. We began in the North and drove South through windy roads. The roads have been surprisingly quiet, it’s striking how sparse the traffic is here.

Scamping about outdoors for hours in glorious sunshine worked up an appetite, so Arklow bay was our dinner destination and bed for the night. After 2 nights in the van, we opted for a bnb, room service and a good book, I’m on holiday after all.
