Day 4 & 5

Total journey so far -Luton to Gloucester

From Luton to Gloucester in 4 days. The backpacks are adding fuel to the fire in her calves by now and BnB’s with bathtubs are essential but, the realisation that she could still be in Gate 2 airport prison allows her to press on with a smile.

Even celebratory in her stride her gaits are open as she leaves the Chilterns and heads into the Cotswolds.  After walking through villages that look stuck in time she recounts her steps. Only hiking 10 miles today she feels she has seen all the Southern English countryside she needs.  From Didcot she takes a train for a little rest, respite and a Sainsbury’s extra special prawn cocktail sandwich.

Alas Gloucester Robinswood, where good company, sauna and swimming pool dissipate the fatigue and where the couple celebrate the coming of the year in style, a caféPatron and sleep. All 12 hours of it.
